Pat Badgett was a strong, intelligent woman with a big personality. Having won a scholarship program when she was in her 60s, Pat went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee with a Master’s Degree in the 1990’s.
Pat, with her strong voice and God-given gift as a natural storyteller, could converse on any range of subjects at great length. What she loved talking about as much as anything were her memories of what it was like growing up a young girl in Cocke County, the place of her birth and roots.
Almost immediately upon meeting Pat for the first time, she would quickly determine your Zodiac sign, then would proceed to tell you how you matched up with all 12 of the Zodiac signs. Pat also like to catch up on (or catch you up on) the Church news of the week. One never left a conversation with her, not fully informed on pretty much everything that was going on with everyone.
Most importantly, Pat Badgett loved the Church: and she loved HER Church. She supported it wholeheartedly and faithful, all the way to the end. She loved to reminisce about how she obeyed the Gospel in the early 1970’s, and whether it was at the Park City, McDonald Drive, Wooddale Church of Christ (the four congregations where Pat labored and worshipped for more than half a century) … if “Sister” Badgett was part of your church family, she was loyal and 100% dependable to always be there in any way.
Pat also loved her family. You didn’t have to know her very long; to know she loved them … Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Leonard and Othetta Lorene Dixon … Also preceded in death by her husband Charles Badgett Sr., and two sons Charles Badgett Jr. and Morris “Keith” Badgett.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lorene Parker and son-in-law, Eric Parker; grandchildren Alexandra Camille, Christopher Parker, Te’Shon Badgett, Charles Cherry III and Cassius Badgett; and great-granddaughter Madeline Bree Chari.
(Please forgive any unintentional oversights in this announcement … Pat Badgett leaves behind a host of beloved family members, dear friends and church members to cherish her memory).
A Visitation for Patricia Badgett will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701, with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00pm.
