Joseph Dafoe White

Joseph Dafoe White, age 88, died peacefully at home with his family by his side, on October 27, 2023. Joe was born in Princeton, Kentucky, the son of the late Shellie White Sr. and Mary Edna Childress on June 8, 1935. He was married to Janice Faye Orange for over 66 years. Joe was a faithful companion to Janice and father of three sons. He was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church for 10 years.

Joe served his country for five years in the U.S. Navy where he was a cost accountant on the USS Marshall and later worked for TVA in the same capacity for 31 years.

Joe is survived by his three sons, Jeff White and his wife Jinger of Maryville, TN, John White and his wife Cheryl of Marble Hill, GA, and Tim White and his wife Susan of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Sue Shaw of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Kelli McCurdy (Matt), Kandice Vick (Landon), Kaleb White (Heather), Katie Bradford (Corey), Klaire Twidle (Matt), Kristian White (Antonia), Tyler White, and Ally Williams (Joe). He was blessed with 29 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

Joe's family would like to recognize his caregiver, Theon Williams, who was by his side for two years.

Service details are as follows: Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2:00pm at New Hope Baptist Church, 605 Dotson Memorial Road, Maryville, TN 37801. Pastor Mike Parker will be officiating. Receiving of friends will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to New Hope Baptist Church.
