Verl T Williams

Verl T. Williams peacefully passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born on December 1, 1944, in Pineville, Louisiana, to Mack and Lucy Thomas. As young children, Verl and his twin brother, Earl, moved to Michigan to live with their aunt and uncle, Albirta and Huey Williams, who adopted the brothers.

Verl attended the Albion Public School System and was a graduate of Washington Gardner High School. He enlisted in the National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1967. Verl also attended Spring Arbor College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

In 1968, Verl married his wife, Florence Williams, and they shared 26 years of marriage before her passing. Together, they had one daughter. Verl was a long-time employee of Eaton Corporation, retiring as an Expeditor under BorgWarner. He enjoyed “payday” luncheons with his fellow retirees from Eaton. After retirement, Verl worked part-time at Auto Value in Albion, delivering parts to various auto dealerships and body shops in the area. Verl had a passion for attending car shows and motorcycles, and he was a member of Reclamation Life Church and Community Center in Albion, MI.

Verl is survived by his daughter, Hillary Williams of Grand Rapids, MI; his brothers, Mack and Dwindle Thomas (Beverly Thomas); his sisters-in-law, Ruth Morgan and Roberta Hayes (Williams Hayes) and brother-in-law Jake Dodds (Shirley Dodds). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special nieces Nora Jackson and Yolanda Chandler, and special cousin Althea Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Williams; his parents, Mack and Lucy Thomas; his adoptive parents, Huey and Albirta Williams; and four brothers: Carol, Vervie, Robert and Earl Thomas.

A family hour for Verl will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Reclamation Life Church and Community Center, 1014 Maple St., Albion, MI 49224, with the funeral service following at 12:00 PM.
