Phillip Fitts

Phillip Wayne Fitts age 82 of Albion passed away peacefully in his home under the loving care of his family on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born in Albion on December 18, 1940 the son of Edward and Nina (Merrill) Fitts.

Phillip served our country honorably in the U.S. Air force and enjoyed opportunities to share his military stories with others as well as learning and discussing military history.

Phillip earned two Bachelor’s degrees, one from Western Michigan University in Accounting and one from Michigan State University in Agronomy. He was a self-employed CPA who would often lend his services, free of charge, to nonprofit organizations in his community.

On August 26, 1967, Phillip was united in marriage to Nicette Elaine (Radee) Fitts and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2021 after 54 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by both his parents, and several siblings: Marilyn Neering, Margery Carroll, Robert Fitts, Barbara Bogner, Patricia Carpenter and James Fitts.

Phillip was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, camping and volunteering however he could in his community.

Phillip leaves to cherish his memory two children, son, Edward (Kristi) Fitts of Portage, daughter, Amy (Bernie) Konkle of Albion, five grandchildren: Chelsea Lehmann, Harrison Fitts, Grant Konkle, Luke Konkle, Charlie Konkle, two sisters, Pamela Jean Weiskittel, Frances Walsh and many extended family and friends.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Nicette in Riverside Cemetery, Albion.
