Nicole Shanice Green, 51, affectionately known as “Nikki,” transcended this earthly veil unexpectedly on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at home. Nicole was the first-born child of Bernice Carter (Green) Wyrick and Samuel Green, born October 7, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois.
Nicole was raised in a God-fearing home where the commandments and precepts of Christ and Christian living were taught. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, March 27, 1983, under the leadership of Rev. Edward Seals.
Nicole attended Albion Public Schools and received her Academic Diploma from Albion Senior High in June, 1990. She worked at The Manor in Jonesville, MI, as a Youth Specialist for more than 15 years. She enjoyed her job and was a great source of love and kindness to many of the troubled youth housed there. Nicole would also transport the girls to specified exchange sites for weekend or holiday visits with family. Nicole was a hard worker who exceeded the specifications of her job.
Nicole grew up in a close extended family; first cousins were more like sisters and brothers. Nikki was a beautiful magnet, regardless of where she lived, her place was the gathering spot for ALL cousins including those who were grafted into the group. Each one learned from Godly grandparents and parents, the true meaning of family. The unconditional love one has for another and the willingness to help each other in time of need. This principle is yet ingrained in her surviving cousins. Proverbs 18:24 states, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Nikki was the definition of a true friend. Her inner beauty drew people to her from all areas and phases of her life.
Nicole was preceded in death by her father Samuel Green, brother Ivan Green, paternal grandmother Rachel Patterson, paternal grandfather Walter Green, maternal grandparents Deacon Bernard and Elizabeth Carter, aunt Linda H. Estelle, cousins Stephanie Estelle, Dr. Juania Carter, Dawn Estelle, and Tre’von Estelle. Her best friend Sherri Smith Bonner and God-mother Rubynell Womack.
