Launa Willine Snyder

Launa Willine (Ashley) Snyder, age 82, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022. Launa was born January 21, 1940 in Dublin, Georgia to Mack Ashley and Dezmer (Whitehead) Ashley. Launa moved to Albion with her family at the age of four.

Launa married Edward Snyder on September 21, 1959. They were married for 36 years, until his death in 1993.

Launa was employed in various positions in Albion throughout the years, including; Corning Glass Works, JC Penney Downtown Albion, Albion Police Department Dispatch and City of Albion Bookkeeping Office, Oak Meadows Property Management, Albion Chamber of Commerce and Albion Public Schools, retiring from the school system in 2005.

Launa was an active member of Lewis Chapel AME Church for many years; serving on the Stewardess Board, Usher Board, Women’s Missionary Society, Lay Organization, Senior Choir and Steward Board. She also previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday school, Church Secretary, and received the Lay Pioneer Award in 2017.

Launa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; she especially enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked planting flowers, reading, and puzzles, and was a previous volunteer of the Forks Senior Center, Festival of the Forks Committee and Albion Athletic Boosters. She had a very loving heart that was open to everyone.

Launa is survived by her three sons: Kevin of Albion, Brian of Lansing, Steven (Suzanne) of Chicago, IL; daughter, Keitha of Albion; daughter in law, Ramona Roberts of Marshall; grandchildren: Alexandra (Tyler) Curtis of Coldwater; Portia of Chicago, IL; Haley (Kylen) of Albion; Tara of Chicago, IL; Hillary of Albion; Trevor of Chicago, IL; Christopher and Savannah of Kalamazoo; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Aquilla Ingram of Lansing; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Launa was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Dezmer Ashley; husband Edward Snyder; grandson Randall Snyder; siblings Billy, Bobby, Mack Jr., Elaine (Ashley) Thomas; and many other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

A visitation/viewing for Launa will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr, Albion, Michigan. A Home Going celebration will occur Saturday, December 3, 2022 with family hour at 11AM until the service at 12:00 PM at Lewis Chapel AME Church, 522 W. Center St, Albion, Michigan. A burial will occur Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Riverside Cemetery.
