Karl J. Shimkus passed away peacefully September 26 under the exceptional care of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. He was one month away from turning 93. Mr. Shimkus was born in Albion on October 30, 1930 to John and Maude (Harris) Shimkus. After graduating Albion High School and trade school, he started his lifelong profession as a pattern maker. He served two years in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, returning to his profession after his honorable discharge. He retired in Albion.
Karl was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer (Pickell) and siblings Rose, Jim, and John Jr. He is survived by his sister Ann Closson of Spring Arbor and many nieces and nephews born to his brother Jim and Sister Ann.

Interment will be in the Shimkus Family plot at Riverside Cemetery where a private ceremony will take place for family and close friends.
