Erasmo "Raz" Bocanegra

Erasmo Bocanegra, or simply “Raz” to all who knew him, was called to heaven on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at age 71. Raz was born in Marshall, Michigan on March 5, 1953, and called Marshall home for all his life.

Raz’s passion for helping people coupled with his unique ability to provide guidance led to his fulfilling career as a Sales Manager and General Manager in the auto sales industry. Raz stayed busy into retirement, working part time as a Valet at Firekeepers Casino, managing his real estate investments, and exercising his selflessness by transporting VA patients to appointments.

In his free time, Raz enjoyed golfing, riding motorcycles, playing cards, and most importantly spending time with family and friends. Raz’s house was truly an open house where an unspoken invite was always extended to visitors. As much as he enjoyed visitors, he’d also go out of his way to check on his loved ones and was prouder of everyone else’s accomplishments than he was of his own.

Raz was smile and laughter in tough times, a shoulder for many to cry on, and had a warm heart that always knew how to make things better. As we remember Raz, he would not want anyone to forget that “YOU make it a good day.”

Preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Juanita Bocanegra, and brothers, Carlos and Arturo Bocanegra, Raz is survived by brothers, Mingo and Roy Bocanegra, son Mike (Amy) Bocanegra, stepsons Ben (Stephanie) and Jon (Rebecca) Ziskal, and step grandchildren Zachary, Cameron, Lucy, and Oliver Ziskal.

Visitation will be held at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home: 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224:

• Thursday, October 24, 2024: 2pm – 4pm, 6pm – 8pm

• Evening Prayer Service at 7:30pm

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary Catholic Church: 212 W Hanover Street, Marshall, MI 49068:

• Friday, October 25, 2024: 11am

Raz will be laid to rest at St Mary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall, Michigan with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Marshall VFW: 800 E Michigan Avenue, Marshall, MI 49068
