Don was born on February 21, 1936 to the late Stafford and Pearl Gibson in Tram, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Gibson; wife, Joyce Gibson and his son Terry “Hoot” Gibson. He is survived by the love of his life and fiancé of 16 years Helen Woods, daughters Deborah Huff, Patricia Gibson, Tammy Behrman, and Lora Sabin; step-daughter, Vickie Lynn George; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much.
In addition to being a loving father, grandfather, and uncle, Don was very active in his church, Jesus Christ Apostolic Church in Coldwater, and he devoted his life to praising the Lord. He had a deep love of music and recorded several gospel albums throughout his lifetime allowing him to share his unwavering faith in God with those who surrounded him. Don worked at Hayes Albion Corp for several years and after retirement he enjoyed singing, playing guitar, attending church, watching the Detroit Tigers games, and making his family laugh with his hilarious jokes.
Don will be remembered by his family and friends as a selfless man of God who lived a long life dedicated to helping those in need and bringing a smile to the faces of those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation for Don will be Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI. Funeral Service for PRIVATE family will be Thursday, March 19 at 1:00PM at the funeral home with Pastor Jeffrey S. Waid officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
