Dixie Ivon Back

She was born on January 3, 1946, in Tiptop, Kentucky to Amos and Rebecca (Puckets) Coburn.

Dixie enjoyed the simple things life, a good bargain, yard sales, and drinking coffee while watching the birds. She was a great listener who did not suffer fools lightly, but always helped anyone she could. She loved to host family holiday gatherings. She showed her love by feeding her family and friends. Dixie was known for her sausage gravy, chicken and dumplings, cornbread, and fried chicken. She taught all of her children to cook but went to the grave with her fried chicken recipe. Dixie was also an active member of the East Eckford Church.

She is survived by her children: Carl Joe (Julie (Shepherd)) Back of Eckford, MI, Penny Rebecca (Jimmy) Back-Johnson of Albion, MI, Berlin Edward (Amy (Graham)) Back of Barbeau, MI; siblings, Sue (Coburn) Blair of Concord, MI and Delma (Coburn) Blount of Hillsdale, MI; grandchildren, Tessa (Jason) Back-O’Dell, Chrystale (Josh) Back-Fletcher, Jessica (Jordan) Back-Cranmore, Donald Back, Justin (Molly (Kooi) Back, Kelsey Back, Payton Back, Kathryn Graham, Brianna Back, Megan (Tom) Magoon, and Zach Lewis; great-grandchildren, Camarieanna Taylor, Kamri Taylor, Bella Fletcher, Anthony Fletcher, Nova Cranmore, Sophia Cranmore, Lilith Cranmore, Grayson Fletcher, Gabbie Fletcher, Landon Kooi, Calvin Back, Leon Back, Rylee O’Toole, Anakin Roose, Jameson O’Toole, Joshua O’Dell, Issac O’Dell, Thomas O’Dell, and Emery Magoon.

She is preceded in death by her son, David Earl; husband, Hargis Back; parents, Amos and Rebecca (Puckets) Coburn; grandson, Ryan Eugene Rantz; granddaughter, Samantha Nicole Back; siblings, Burlin Skaggs Coburn, Virginia (Coburn) McKeague, Mairam “Dockie” (Coburn) Watkins, Betty Jean Coburn, Earlin Coburn, Beatrice (Coburn) Calhoun, Merlin Coburn, and Marietta (Coburn) Shepherd.

Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr. Albion, MI 49224. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM with the funeral service to follow at 11:00AM. Dixie will be laid to rest at East Eckford Cemetery.
