Hard to believe it has been a year since you passed my friend.  Yesterday I walked by your house and thought about all of the wonderful things you did.  The world is better for having your stamp upon it.

Dave was one of the people I worked with most closely at UMR. I admired his mature, even-keeled approach to life and physics.  He was  a perfect fit for Albion; I can't imagine a better mentor for undergraduate physics majors.  My prayers are with Debbie and the rest of his family.

I grew up with the Seely’s backyard next to ours. Many days were spent there with my sister, Jeanne, and I goofing  around with Laura and David. I lost track of where he was after I graduated. He was 3 years younger. 

Words can't express how deeply sorry we are with Dave's passing. He was much more than a close colleague -- he was a dear friend and much like a brother. He will be profoundly missed. Deb and Matt are in our thoughts and prayers. We are sorry that we can't come to the service on Saturday but we hope we can get together sometime. You are always welcome in our home.

Deb and Matthew, we are so sorry to hear this. We appreciated you guys as neighbors back in the day, and Dave was a friend and a true blessing as a colleague at Albion College. May the Lord comfort you with the best, freshest memories of him.

Dave and I were best friends for nearly 30 years. How did that happen? I don't know, but I can tell you that I was the lucky one. We followed each other around Albion College like each other's puppy dog. There were epic putting contests with Dr. Steffenson in the Science building at 11 pm, followed by ice cream in the KC. Our first 4 or 5 years together we never missed a football game, home or away.  Fun was always on our mind  and fun we always had. I never took our relationship for granted because I could feel how special it was. Dave was a best man at my wedding. In fact, Dave was with me when I first met Kathy,  my bride-to-be. Dave and I looked at each other - yeah, baby! Dave was always with me, and vice versa. People found it unusual when we weren't together. I'm already missing that dude, big time. A better friend no one ever had. He was my brother and to me, he was an angel. Rest in peace, my beautiful Dave.

I was lucky enough to be in Dr. Seely's inaugural class of freshman physics majors. And I was even more fortunate to be able to call Dave a friend and mentor in all of the years that followed. His amazing mind was only rivaled by his caring heart. It's still tough to believe that he never hesitated to spend very late nights preparing a handful of undergraduates for upcoming physics exams -- some of which were his exams and some were actually others'. Not to mention the countless hours he spent preparing us for the graduate school entrance exam -- and continuing to teach and learn with us in our professional lives. He never stopped giving. We've lost an incredible human.

I'm a classmate of his sister, Laura.  Haven't seen him since high school but I remember David always having that smile on his face. He was always so friendly and kind.  My deepest sympathies to his families.

I am incredibly sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Seely.  I still think back and smile on his masterful use of colored chalk that brought physics to life on the blackboard. I am grateful for my time at Albion and for the experiences and future Dr. Seely helped create.  My condolences to his family and friends; may the comfort and love of the community surround you.

Dr. Seely was easily one of my favorite professors at Albion. I enjoyed my physics courses with him and interacting in the science center. Every interaction with Dr. Seely had me smiling. He was a kind gentlemen that never demeaned a student. He made you feel cared for and that your thoughts and questions were appreciated. I cherish my memories with him, Dr. Anderson, and fellow students. My heart goes out to the Seely family during this difficult time. Know that he was so loved and adored on campus. My deepest condolences. 

Dave was a wonderful neighbor, a devoted father and husband and the kind of educator we should all aspire to be:  caring about his students as human beings first and scholars second. I treasure my many memories with Dave, Debbie and our Albion colleagues and friends. You will be dearly missed. Much love to Debbie, Matt and everyone else mourning his absence.

Dave was kind and intelligent. He was a wonderful professor. But he was also a great teacher-husband! He was patient and supportive and often ran into my own teacher-husband when they were at school doing teacher-husband work. I will miss Dave. He was just an all-around fantastic person.

I’m so sad to hear this. Dr. Seely was a great professor. What a huge loss. Most sincere condolences to the family.  

Dave was a good church member and a great guy.  Kind and with that smile on his face is how I will always remember him. May God's strong love embrace you as you come to terms with all that Dave meant to you.

I loved my classes and interactions with Dr. Seely when I was a physics major at Albion (2005-2009).  He was always kind and excited to teach.  I remember he would do physics demos and say "It's magic. It really is."  He inspired us with wonder.  He will be missed.

Dave was a gem in the altogether stellar physics department at Albion during my years there, 1994-1998. He was able to discover the strengths and uncover the aspirations of all of his students, always encouraging them along the path that would enable them to excel. I treasure the friendship we developed, and the closeness he enabled us to maintain with fellow physics alumni. 

Dave was such a wonderful sincere man and was so very kind.
Always a smile on his face.  He will be missed at Albion College, where he was a friendly face in the Science Complex.

Dave was one of the nicest gentlemen you could know.  A great walker around town, he always had a smile on his face and a kind word.  He had a brilliant mind but never blew his own horn. Humble and modest—that was Dave.  He took a lot of knocks and still bravely fought a long, hard battle. Our family is sending the deepest heartfelt condolences to Debbie and Matt and the rest of the family. Rest in peace, Dave.
