Helen Danesis, Age 87, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. A resident of Akron, she was born April 10, 1936, to parents, Pericles and Olymbia Vasil in Webster, MA. Helen was married to Louis Danesis for over 53 years and together they raised two sons, George and Perry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, son George, and brother William Vasil.
Helen graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor's degree in education. She received her Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Kent State University. For 30 years, She served as a second grade teacher at Seiberling Elementary School; a job she was so passionate about. Her dedication to her students was exemplary as she was blessed with the gift of motivating others.
Helen is survived by her son, Perry (Zita) of Akron, who has been at his mother's side as she faced numerous health challenges for the past several years. She also leaves her sister, Loretta Watson of Bethlehem, PA, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Helen was a very devoted wife and mother, she invested herself in raising her children and enriching their lives. Her joy for life and family was her number one priority and was expressed through her love for singing and dancing. We will forever remember her cooking and her interest in collecting authentic recipes to share with everyone.
She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Daughters of Penelope. Above all, her faith and love for the Lord and her joy of reading the word of God remained steadfast until her last days. We will hold you in our hearts forever, dear Helen.
Friends may call Friday 5-8PM at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market St. in Akron, where Pastor Dave Shields will conduct the funeral service at 1PM Saturday. Interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
