Charles "Bob" Robert Blankenship

Bob was born on May 31, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama to Herman and Minnie (Smitherman) Blankenship. Bob received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Akron, served in the US Army, and upon returning from the Army, received his Master’s degree from Indiana University. He married the love of his life, Jean Marie (Underwood) Blankenship and they remained married until she passed away in 2012. Bob retired from The University of Akron in the Audio Visual Department after working there for many years. He was active in the University of Akron alumni association. Bob was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls branch of AARP, Northampton Historical Society, and Northampton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed photography.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.

Bob will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Dawn (Jack Eckroad) Pendley, Nelson (Janet) Underwood, Patti Kay Hoover, and Jon (Rhonda) Underwood, great nephews, Daniel and Nathaniel Underwood, and great niece, Donielle and many friends, including his friends at Concordia at Sumner.

Friends and family may come to call on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. The service will be live streamed at this time by clicking the link below. Entombment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
