December 19, 1932 – June 23, 2021
Ivan Kilby, passed away quietly in his 89th year, as the result of a stroke on Father’s day. Ivan was a resident of Acton for 65 years and was named Acton’s citizen of the year in 2010, an honor which he treasured. He was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197 for more than 50 years.
Ivan had a lifelong and rewarding career in aviation manufacturing, starting out on the production floor and rising into the ranks of upper management. His career in aviation began as an assembler on the AVRO Arrow. This was followed by more than a decade at Orenda Engines in Malton. His career concluded when he retired from McDonnell-Douglas following more than two decades of service and many promotions. Ivan spent more than two decades following his retirement as a volunteer driver for CASHH. A social person, Ivan took great pride in doing his best to boost the spirits of his passenger clients as they were taken to and from the hospitals.
Predeceased by his wife Jean (1991). He is survived by his daughter Beverley, son Robert, daughter-in-law Marjorie, grandson Kevin and his cat Sally.
There will be a celebration of Ivan’s life at some future date, when conditions permit.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to C.A.S.H.H. would be appreciated by the family.
