Passed away in Port Perry on Saturday, July 16th in his 81st year. David leaves his wife Beth, children Susan, Greg and Robbie (Linda), grandchildren Lara, Jeremy and Michael, brother Ron and faithful friend Dileas. David was first and foremost a military man. He joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry at the age of 18, fought bravely in Korea and was awarded United States Presidential Citation for distinguished service at Kapyong.
He joined the Toronto Scottish upon his return and then the 48th Highlanders of Canada.
Although he was retired from active service, he remained involved with the Military family until he died, including the 48th Highlanders Continuing Sergeant’s Association, Korean War Veterans, the Royal Canadian Legion and the O.C.A.
The family will receive friends at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, “Shoemaker Chapel”, 55 Mill Street East, Acton, on Tuesday, July 19th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197 tribute will be held Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m.
Friends are invited to meet the family at Trinity United Church, 70 Mill Street East, Acton, on Wednesday at one o’clock where the funeral service will be conducted by Padré Greg Bailey.
David will be laid to rest beside his wife of 53 years, Jean, on Saturday, July 23rd at 10 o’clock at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road (south of Steeles) Brampton, 905-451-3716
