Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. Burial will follow at 11:45 a.m. in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Travis was born May 15, 1948 to Willie Oscar Young and Wynemia Bartlett Young in Ramah, Louisiana. He married Hwa Cha "Lee" Yi. Travis served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years. He was employed by City Link Transit, retiring after 18 years. Travis was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to spend his free time with his grandchildren. He was a very caring man and touched the lives of everyone he came across. Travis was a real loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Hwa Cha "Lee" Young of Abilene; a son, John Young and wife, Tammy, of Abilene; three daughters, Kathy Branson and husband, Doug, of Niceville, Florida, Mary Garcia and husband, Leonel Jr. of Grovetown, Georgia, and Tina Young of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
