It is with great sadness that the Allen/Leija family announces the death of Terry Blane Allen, 53. He completed life’s journey after a valiant battle with cancer at his home is Odessa on December 17, 2022 with his family at his side.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Highway 277 S. in Abilene. Interment will follow in Denton Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8:00 PM also Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Terry was born in Abilene to Marvin Doyle Allen and the late Frances Anetta (Whetsel) Allen. He grew up in Hawley where he graduated from Hawley High School in 1988. He married the love of his life Gloria Leija on September 28, 1996. They made Hawley their home for many years while Terry worked for Pride Refinery in Abilene.
In 1988 Terry relocated to Odessa with employment for Huntsman. He currently was employed as the Console Manager at Plains All American where his coworkers were like family to him. He will be remembered as a hard worker. Terry was an active member of Crossroads Church in Odessa. Terry had a great love of the outdoors, woodworking, even remodeling their home, and sports especially University of Texas and Dallas Cowboys. He was known for his skill playing basketball. His hook shot especially because it was an automatic bucket. He was known on the Odessa courts as “OG”. He loved spending time with his family out at his dad’s ranch making wonderful memories. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
Terry is remembered every day by his friends and family. He had a sense of humor, a big heart. He never slowed down, never gave up, and never stopped investing in the lives of others. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He fought the good fight and having kept his faith firmly focused on the Kingdom of God. Terry was blessed with a large, loving family. He is dearly missed by loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Lord and King who presented Terry with the Crown of Righteousness, we salute you! Terry Allen we will never forget you!
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Anetta (Whetsel) Allen; paternal grandfather, George Paul Allen; maternal grandparents, Preston and Marie Whetsel; and aunt, Paula Kelso.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Allen; children, Cody Leija (Marisa), and Blane Allen; father, Doyle Allen; grandmother, Madie Phillips; siblings, Gary Allen and Sandra Jeanetta McKnight; Chris Hollway; grandchildren; Lauryn Monty Allen, Anthony Montana Leija, Vincent Lee Leija;cherished in-laws, Connie DeLosSantos (Hector), David Leija(Sylvia), Andy Leija(Shannon), Christina DeLeon (Paul), and Melissa Leija, his father in-law, Felipe Leija; numerous beloved aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would also like to thank the cancer team at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston for their ongoing support.
