Ricardo C. Flores

The family will receive friends for a visitation at 6:00 p.m. on Friday August 11, 2023 followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home in Abilene ,TX 79606 with Deacon Alonzo from Holy Family Catholic Church officiating.

Ricardo C. Flores was born in Big Springs, TX to Francisco and Margarita Flores on December 2, 1944. He was the first generation in his family to graduate from high school and go to college. He worked for the Civil Service at Webb Air Force Base as a food service worker from 1965 to 1977. He then worked for Dyess Air Force Base as a Supply Inspector and later retired in 2009. Ricardo enjoyed his part time job after retiring as a school crossing guard and also worked for Dr.Fred White. Ricardo was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, an Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and a Cursillista. He received many awards in his lifetime, he won a golf tournament in 2011, Supply Professional Civilian of the year in 2000, Civilian of the Quarter in 1991 and 1989. The Ace of Golf Tournament 1st Flight 4th place in 1981 and the RM Golf Tournament Runner up in 1980. Ricardo enjoyed reading, playing golf, playing cards, and playing pool with his sisters and grandkids. He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Ricardo will be truly missed by his family, friends and lifelong companions Max and Tebow, his pet dogs.

Ricardo C. Flores was preceded in death by his parents, Margarita Flores and Francisco Flores; sisters, Mary Lou Alvidrez, Concha C. Flores; brothers, Jose Flores, Ismael Flores, Armando Flores, and Robert Flores.

Ricardo C. Flores is survived by his wife of 57 years, Oralia Elvira Flores; son, Ricky Flores of Abilene, TX; daughter, Melissa Martinez (Ben); granddaughter, Serena Jones (Nathan); grandsons, Jacob Martinez and Benjamin Martinez (Crystal); sisters, Teresa Vasquez of Big Springs, TX, Rebecca Valencia of Lubbock, TX, Linda Galan of Big Springs, TX and brother, Sammy Flores of Arizona; several nieces and nephews.
