With great sorrow, the Ortega family announces the passing of our strong, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Patty Anne Ortega. She peacefully went to be with our Savior on November 21, 2024, at the age of 77.
Born on July 30, 1947, to Irvin Eldon Ferguson and Myrtle Bernice Fleming in Omaha, Nebraska, Patty met her future husband, Richard Gonzalez Ortega, in 1965 at a laundromat called America Laundry in Prescott, Arizona. They married and eventually settled in Abilene, Texas, and had seven children. Patty loved spending time with family, going to church on Sundays, playing games, watching Westerns, and rescuing and caring for any dog that she could.
She is survived by her husband; children, Maria (Henry), Richard (Julie), Scott (Teresa), Chantelle (Mike), Cisco (Ashley), Tara (Sergio), and Tasha (Josh); her twenty-eight grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vickie and Myrna and her brother, Randy.
She was known and loved by many as Grandma Pat. Although our mama is gone, she will always be in our hearts.
Services will be held at Mission Abilene Church at 3001 N. 3rd Street, Abilene, Texas 79603 on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, with viewing from 9:00-11:00 AM and a service following at 11:00 AM.
