Margaret was born in McCamey,Texas and was the only child of Charles Gordon Phillips and Faye Eads Phillips. Most of her childhood was spent in Baytown Texas where her father worked for Exxon. Margaret graduated from Robert E Lee high school in Baytown and graduated with an Elementary Education degree from Abilene Christian University. She taught first grade for several years and then stayed home raising her three boys. After her first husband, Al, passed away, Margaret worked as a secretary for the head of the psychology department at Abilene Christian. She remarried Grady B Jolly in 1983 and lived on their farm on Jolly Rogers Road for many years. They moved to the retirement community of Lakewood Christian Village in Fort Worth in their later years
Margaret was known for her quick sarcastic humor and love of children. She and Grady were long time members of the Highland Church of Christ worship committee. She taught and mentored many young women in her time there. Her home was always open for anyone who needed a place to stay. All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren each felt that they were her favorite one.
If you would like to make a donation in her memory, because of her love for children and mission, we recommend Rwanda Children PO Box 1011, Abilene, Texas 79604.
