Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Reverend Stan Allcorn officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Laura was born November 11, 1931 to Willie Hansmann and Elizabeth (Rahe) Hansmann in New Braunfels, Texas. She married Cecil H. Middleton. Laura was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She loved her family and she was greatly loved by them. Laura had a compassionate heart and would sacrifice herself, time and resources to help meet the needs of others. She was a sincere, genuine, smart, loving Christian wife. Laura was a great mother, outstanding grandmother, super great-grandmother, and a close sister. She loved the Lord and always prayed for her family and friends. Laura always made others around her happy. She had a good sense of humor, and always liked to make other people laugh. Laura was an animal lover and will be missed by her pets, Baby and Star. Laura was a homemaker and was always there for her kids. She and her husband, Cecil, were long time small business owners in Abilene. Laura had worked for the Abilene Independent School District for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include a son, Russell Renata Middleton of Alexandria, Virginia; three daughters, Rhonda Doan and husband, Randy, of Ovalo, Texas, Roxanne Rose and husband, Eddie, of San Angelo, Texas, and Rhene Davidson and husband, David, of Abilene; two brothers, Alex Hansmann of San Antonio, Texas and Tommy Hansmann of New Braunfels, Texas; three sisters, Darlene Rothe and Melbas Weyel, both of New Braunfels, and Peggy Pape of Driftwood, Texas; grandchildren, Rachelle Grun, Ryan Doan, Justin Rose, Jordan Rose, Jared Davidson, Jaclyn Davidson, Julia Middleton, and Jonathan Middleton; great-grandchildren, Lauren Hutcherson, Callie Hutcherson, Dakota Hartness, Kaylee Hartness, and Jaxon Doan; and pets, Baby and Star.
