Kenneth "Sonny" W. Thompson, 73, of Abilene, TX peacefully passed from this earth on July 8, 2012. Sonny was born in Brownwood, TX on June 21, 1939 to Naomi and Henry Thompson. He graduated from Abilene High in 1958, served two years in the Army as a Paratrooper, worked in the oil field, farmed on the side, and worked for the Texas Dept. of Transportation for 35 years until he retired.
Sonny loved to fish, hunt, mess with his horses and dogs, visit with his many friends, tell stories, and listen to classic country music.
Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Diane; two brothers, Randy and wife, Shirley of Abilene and Stanley and wife, Randie of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be cremated by choice and a private memorial service will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the special angels at Coronado Nursing Center and Hendrick Hospice for the special care, love, support, and the extra attention they gave to our Sonny.
