Karen Leigh Griffith, 62, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Abilene. Karen was born in Dallas, TX to Glynn and Olivia Wood on October 11, 1952. She graduated from Abilene High school, worked and graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Studies. She also earned a degree from Texas State Technical College. She really enjoyed playing games with her friends and family. Some of the things she put a lot of love into were cake making and sewing. She made sure everyone got in the pictures which she loved to take. Making memories was her specialty. Karen was a very selfless person and really reflected that in others. Everyone’s child was treated as if they were her own and many that have grown up can testify that she was a very important part of their lives. She was a Children's Minister at Woodlawn Church of Christ and never could say no to many volunteer opportunities. She loved to sing and was even in a group called, "Daddy's Girls." She was an awesome mom, sister, grandma, daughter, aunt, and friend.
Karen was preceded in death by her father. Those left to cherish her memory are her mother; daughter, Kristi Bearden (husband) Joe of Austin and their child, Tripp; son, Zachary Griffith (wife) Sarah of Kelso , Washington; brother, Roger Wood (wife) Debbie of Lawton, OK; sisters, Kathy Cooke (husband) Richard of Abilene and Lisa Ortiz (husband) Joe of Grand Prairie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Charitable donations may be made to Woodlawn Children’s Ministry in her memory.
