Jimmie Boyd Goza Edwards Dockray Hughes passed from this life into eternal rest on January 25th, 2024. She was born December 17, 1928 in Carpenters Gap Texas to James and Irma Boyd Goza. She moved to Abilene and attended Abilene High School. She married Paul Edwards in 1945 in Anson Texas.
Jimmie is survived by four children: Jimmy Edwards and wife Susan, Rod Edwards and wife Wendy, Dan Edwards, and Brigitte Edwards Eichler and husband Jerry; and one sister JoCarol Grizzle of Elfrida, Arizona.
She has 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul in 1994. She married Herbert Dockray and moved to Mayhill, New Mexico until his death in 2002. She then moved to Clyde, Texas to be close to her mother and sister and married Bill Hughes. She was also preceded by three brothers Gerald, Ronny, and Terry Goza; and one sister Cherry Cochran.
She later moved to Granbury to be close to her daughter.
Jimmie had a beauty shop in Abilene and had a faithful following of weekly shampoo and set friends. Her backcombing could last for years. She was very active in the Fireman’s Wives Auxiliary and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ wherever she lived.
Jimmie was a wonderful mother who loved her children unconditionally, but they didn’t hold a candle to her grandchildren. She was very proud of and loved her family very much. She was always ready and willing to help whenever anyone needed her.
Jimmie had a multitude of friends whom she loved and who loved her dearly. She loved country music, playing cards, and dominoes, and she spent many fun winters at Citrus Valley RV Park in McAllen as a snowbird.
Memorial services will be held at Ellliot-Hamil Funeral Home at 5701 Hwy 277 S in Abilene, Texas on Wednesday, January 31st at 2 PM, followed by graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.
