He will be laid to rest privately at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Donald was born on October 13, 1940, in Washington, Pennsylvania to the late James A. Zullo, Sr. and Mary (Shamitko) Zullo. He was born and raised in strong Catholic family and maintained that connection throughout life. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force as an ultimatum from his mother. He served his country faithfully and honorably. His first and online assignment was to Dyess AFB in Abilene where he eventually made his home. Once in Abilene he met and married Phyllis Elaine Fannin. Together they had three children.
He was a hard worker and spent a large part of his life in retail and department store work in Abilene and throughout the state. He was recently working with a company processing wood. He enjoyed golfing and fishing when not working. He will be remembered as a dreamer who often set his sights on many goals, some of which he achieved. He was a published author of two books. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where he participated in groups at times over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings John Zullo, Charles Zullo, and Helen Ulanich.
He is survived by his children Darlene Zullo, Michael F. Zullo (Carol), and Shawn P. Zullo (Lana); grandchildren John Michael (Misty), Marcus (Sarah), Brandi, Rebekah (Nelson), Michael Patrick (Sarah), Sabra (Zach), Gabriella, and Breana; 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings James Zullo, Jr., Bernadette Goodmote, Anthony Zullo, and Mary Ann Zullo; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hendrick Hospice Care or Wreaths Across America.
