Corilla Bryant Walker would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, gardening, hunting and water skiing to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, home cooked meals and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her daughter June, family and friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed.
We want to let her know that she did a great job and wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her bear hugs, her love for life, family and friends, but also fellow residents, nurses and church congregations, many of whom over time also became family. She worked very hard all her life, lived to the blessed age of 92 and when she left she used every bit of her earthly vessel up, all the while keeping her clouded eyes on Jesus full of hope and grace, up until the very end. She made a difference in the lives of many both through her quiet strength, strong sense of humor and the ability to connect with anyone who was blessed to come in contact with her. Mimi, we wish we could witness the host of people greeting you who you have ushered and loved as Christ loved along the way. We so long to see you gaze upon God's beauty and the nature that you have missed here on earth for so long. " Amazing Grace, You once were blind, but now You see!!" We would love to sit with you and observe when you get to hear all the birds chirp again. We will be there soon, and we demand the biggest bear hug when we meet again. Please join us as we celebrate Corilla's life as our Momma, Mimi, Auntie and Friend.
A Life Celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 1 p.m., at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene, TX. Graveside immediately following in Abilene Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Macular Degeneration Foundation at Eyesight.org.
