Claire Palmer passed away peacefully in Abilene, Texas on December 7th, 2021. Visitation will be at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Friday, December 10th from 6:00-8:00pm at 5701 US Hwy 277 S. Abilene, Texas 79606. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11th at 10:00am at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 South 27th Abilene, Texas 79605, with Interment following at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Claire was born to Ed and Maggie Goodman in August of 1930 in Abilene, Texas. She lived in Hamby, Texas and went to Eula High School where she was an outstanding basketball and volleyball player. She enjoyed life as a homemaker. Claire loved attending basketball games at Hardin-Simmons University. She was a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church for many years, then at Broadview Baptist Church. She, along with her late husband, Wayne, faithfully and joyfully served the senior citizens in both churches. Preceding her in death was her husband, Wayne Palmer, parents, two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Palmer Casselberry and son Paul Palmer, both of Abilene. She is also survived by the joys of her life, grandsons, Hunter Casselberry, and fiancé Amanda Martin of Abilene, Ryan and Kaitlin Palmer of Williamsburg, Virginia, and her great granddaughter, Vivian Palmer, whom she adored. Other survivors are her sister, LaTrelle Heppner of Abilene, Texas and her brother Neil Goodman, and his wife Reta, Of Hamby, Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
