A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene with Pastor Kevin Kennedy officiating. THe family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
He was born on November 9, 1941 in Flora, Illinois to DC Simpson and Nora Belle (Kutch) Simpson. He moved to Texas in 1952. He attended Abilene High School and then joined the Navy.
He married Jackie Darlene McAnally on June 4, 1967 in Aspermont Texas. Together they owned a grocery store in Sweetwater, when they moved to Aspermont in 1973 they lived at and managed Hickman’s Motel. Then they owned and operated the Aspermont Ambulance service and Chuck also owned a gas station, a couple of game rooms and a skating rink.
He loved cool cars and had a few himself.
In the early 1980’s Chuck moved to Abilene and worked for the West Texas Linen Service then to the Brownwood/Early area. In 1992 Eric joined him. While living in that area Chuck worked for Shaw’s Laundry Service. He moved to Stamford, Texas in 2002. He worked for Begg’s Wholesale until he retired.
Chuck loved people. Every business or job he ever had was to serve, help or entertain people.
Family that greeted Chuck on his arrival in Heaven are an infant sister, Marilyn Sue; his mom and dad; brothers, Jerry and Tex; sisters, Alice and Ruth (Sis). Left behind to share Chuck’s memories and to tell his stories are his daughter, Olivia Cole and husband Donnie of Stamford, Texas, Son, Eric Simpson and girlfriend Heather Smith of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren, Sadie and Caleb Cole; brothers, Johnny and his wife Jana, Larry and wife Shirley, Phillip and wife Faye; sister, Brenda Riccio and husband Tony, and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine St., Abilene, TX 79601, in Mr. Simpson's name. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.elliott-hamil.com for the Simpson family.
