Bro. Charles Lyn Baker, 69, of Abilene went to his heavenly home January 4, 2021 at Hendrick hospital. Charles was born July 8, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to Robert Joe and Ruth Redman Baker. He was raised on the family farm in Post, Texas. He graduated from Post High School in 1969. During high school, he excelled in choir, and enjoyed 4H, and his church youth group.
After high school he attended Wayland Baptist University, were he met his wife of forty seven years, Debbie Stotler, in the choir. They were married on January 20, 1973 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Charles celebrated fifty years of music and youth ministry in Southern Baptist churches. His current ministry was at Crossway Baptist Church in Abilene. He led his life in service to the Lord.
He enjoyed watching Texas Tech football with his son-in-law and grandson. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, and had a passion for gardening.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Baker of Abilene, daughter Regina Durham and husband Gene of Kermit, Texas, granddaughter Kaitlyn Durham of Odessa, Texas, grandson Tanner Durham of Odessa,Texas, Sister Darla Lacy and husband Craig of Lubbock Texas, sister Tonya Ahn and husband Ronald of Olympia, Washington, three nephews and a niece, and their families. He is also survived by dear friends, who are like family, Gene and Doris Smith.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Robert (Bob) and Ruth Baker, and brother Joe Duane Baker.
A celebration of life service will be held on January, 23rd at Broadview Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Oran Rake, and Reverend Jimmy Hatcher officiating. Attendees will be asked to wear a mask, and observe social distancing. A private family burial will be held at the Post, Tx Cemetery at a later date.
