A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Highway 277 S. in Abilene.
Bill was born on February 21, 1946 in Abilene to his loving parents, William Wallace Murray, II and Ella Mae Murray. He grew up with his two sisters they had wonderful childhood memories such as summers at his uncle Alton’s Cabin. He joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He married Martha June Deatherage and together they had two sons. By profession Bill was a sprinkler fitter he traveled to many locations with his work. In 1983 he embarked on a new journey opening Bill Murray's Hamburgers in Abilene on South 1st Street. He operated the restaurant until 1994. After living in Las Vegas for several years he moved to Midland to be close to family. Bill loved his family and was always proud of them. He had been a member of First Christian Church in Abilene for years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jane Benton, and his nephew Mark Benton.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, Wally Murray and his wife, Cheri, Darrell Murray and his wife Carey; his sister, Judy Hayes; 9 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, and nephews.
