Visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2023, 5:30-7 pm, and services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11 am, both at Trent Methodist Church.
Barbara was born on June 26, 1942, to Tom and Marcella Brown in Carthage, Missouri. She spent most of her early life in the Texas oil patch until moving to Farmington, New Mexico, where she graduated high school. Barbara then attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. She married while in college, and to this union were born three daughters. Barbara enjoyed working as a secretary for the Lubbock Independent School District for many years.
In 2003, Barbara married Norman Head, her square dance partner and friend. They moved to a ranch in Trent, Texas, providing their combined children and grandchildren a place to gather and make lasting memories. The family consists of five children, 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren who all loved "Gram."
She was retired but stayed busy square dancing, gardening, arranging her many flowerpots, singing with Singing Women of Texas, church activities, ladies' study group, Trent Community Club, Birthday Ladies, and especially keeping the house running smoothly. She loved her God, her Church, her husband, her family, and her many friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Marcella Brown, her brother, Michael Brown, son-in-law, Marc Farmer, and grandson, Cody Ray Leschper.
She is survived by her loving husband, Norman Head, daughters Cally (Tim) Finnegan, Amanda (Jack) Shannon, Emily Farmer, step-son Kelly Head, step-daughter Karen (Lance) Leschper, grandchildren Riley and Braden Finnegan, Kassi (Shayne) Trotter, Chris, Abbey and Jackson Shannon, Brooklyn, Blakely and Jacob Farmer, Abbey (Matthew) Whipple, Grant (Hannah) Head, Rusty (Kristen) Treider, Logan (Haleigh) Leschper, Landon (Annel) Leschper, great-grandchildren Ruth and Bristol Trotter, Hannah and Chloe Treider, Leigha, Aubrey and Madison Leschper and sister Sara Hicks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Trent Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
