Kathleen married Alfred Farina December 9, 1958 and they raised four children – Leonna, John, Bonnie and Laura in Coquitlam, B.C.
In her time off, Kay loved to go camping and fishing with the family. She always looked forward to the annual two week vacation at Sandpoint Resort on Canim Lake with the whole family. She even tried waterskiing a few times.
Upon the death of her father, Leo Dionne, Kathleen took over her father’s business, Broadway Laundromat and became a successful entrepreneur. She later expanded her business to include another laundromat 10 blocks away from the original one. Kay and Al brought both laundromats up to modern times with all new machines and ran a successful business until her retirement in 1990.
In 1993 Kay and Al sold their house in Coquitlam and moved to Bridge Lake where they built their dream home on a 2 ½ acre lake front lot and to this day it is a beautiful place to be. Kay joined a quilting group at Bridge Lake as she had always enjoyed sewing and made numerous incredible quilts. If you have one, you know the amazing talent she possessed for this art. Even when her health was failing she was working on a quilt for someone special or a new great grandbaby on the way.
Kay and Al loved to travel and went to many places and saw a lot of the world including Turkey, Thailand, Italy, Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and their favorite Mexico.
She loved having company at her home where her children and grandchildren could amuse themselves fishing and watching all the animals around the property. Each spring you could see newborn fawns born in the yard and red and silver fox playing outside the windows. She really loved their life at their lakeside home, until her very last day.
