Bert (Dad, Papa) will be dearly missed by his only sibling, Honor Warden, by his seven children: Len (Diane), Gaileen, Judy, Joy (Bob) Brougher, Evan (Betty), Lori (Gary) Schmidt, and Bonnie (Dean) Salvog, and by his 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was also a wonderful father and grandfather figure to many, many more.
He was predeceased in 2011 by his dear wife of over 62 years, Lena, and by his sweet great-granddaughter, Violet Emma Warden in 2015.
Bert was born on April 15, 1921 in Quesnel, BC to Malcolm & Peggy Warden. He was born again into the family of God while serving in the RCAF during World War II.
His full life of service included serving in an orphanage in Cuba and ministries in Miami, FL (pastoral work & Christian Spanish Literature). In 1983 Bert & Lena retired to BC, most recently, living in Abbotsford.
Bert’s passion was for revival in the Church and he was an ardent prayer warrior. He would pray regularly for missionaries but also for people who God brought across his path that needed special prayer. He wrote countless Christian articles and letters to the editor in the local papers like The Abbotsford Times & The News (Abbotsford).
Given his passion for missions, the family would like to request, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Missions Fund of the Christian & Missionary Alliance through Sevenoaks Alliance Church in Abbotsford or online (Canada: https://www.cmacan.org/give/ or US: http://www.cmalliance.org/give/ )
The Warden Family would like to thank the caring workers and staff at Menno Pavilion who cared for Dad/Papa from 2011 to 2016. They would especially like to recognize the exceptional attention given by the care aides, LPNs, and other staff at Menno Hospital over the last 22 months.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford.
