Our beloved Dad, Opa and great Opa passed away peacefully into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his family on March 30th, 2024, at the age of 89 years old, and is now reunited with his wife Lilly.
He is survived by his loving family, Konrad (Shirley), Gerald (Pat), Bernice Krieg (Brian), sister Irmgard in Germany, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Horst was compassionately involved in church ministry as a pastor and hospital chaplain for 40 years, telling as many people as possible about the Love of Jesus. He leaves behind a legacy that is a true inspiration.
At the age of 20 Horst immigrated to Canada in July 24, 1954. He became a born again believer of Jesus Christ Feb 24, 1956. Horst married Lilly on May 24, 1960 in Edmonton. They both graduated from British Columbia Bible Institute in North Vancouver in 1961 (now Summit Pacific College).
From 1961 until 1984 he was senior pastor of churches of the German Branch of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in Medicine Hat, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. He then continued theological education earning his BTH from Northwest Bible College in Edmonton. Horst then did his Chaplaincy training at Foothills Hospital in Calgary after which he became the Chaplain at the Kelowna General Hospital until his retirement in 1999.
A memorial service for Horst will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC V2S1M1.
