Erna Alma Jantzen, formerly of Yarrow, BC, passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on March 24, 2017. She was born October 8, 1924 to Peter and Helena Wiebe in Borden, SK. Her family moved to Yarrow in 1941.
In Yarrow, she married the love of her life, Peter Eugene Jantzen on April 22, 1945. Over the next ten years 3 daughters were born.
Mom’s life changed dramatically in 1999 when her husband passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on April 25, 1999. In 2010 she moved to Primrose Gardens at Menno Place. After a fall in February 2016, she recovered but needed more care. On February 2, 2017, she moved to the Menno Hospital and on March 19, she had a more serious fall. Her condition deteriorated rapidly and her daughters came to be with her. She passed away peacefully at 7:00 am on Friday, March 24, 2017.
We would like to express our thanks to all the staff at Primrose Gardens for the loving care that she received while living there and also to the caring and loving staff at the Menno Hospital. She leaves her daughters Shirlee (Dave) Fast, Ev (John) Brown, Terri (Wayne) Braun, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Eugene Jantzen in 1999, 2 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters, two of whom died in infancy, and 5 brothers. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Yarrow MB Church, 41995 Yarrow Central Road, Yarrow, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to Music Mission Kiev, Box 2401, Abbotsford, BC V2T 4X3 would be greatly appreciated.
