Eileen Austin Christiansen (nee Dunlop), aged 90, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Eileen was born on December 21, 1933, in Troston Farmhouse near New Abbey, Scotland, to William and Elspeth Dunlop.
Eileen grew up on Woodhead Dairy Farm in Lochanhead, Dumfries. Eileen was a dedicated registered nurse in Canada, having received her nursing qualifications in Carlisle, England and London, England. While in London, Eileen worked as a midwife. Eileen emigrated from Scotland to Edmonton, Alberta, in 1958, where Eileen began a new chapter of her life. Eileen married Alan Bennett in May of the same year. Eileen continued her profession at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton before relocating to British Columbia in 1965. At the Royal Columbian Hospital, Eileen dedicated many years to caring for patients and bringing new lives into the world, leaving an indelible mark on countless families. Eileen finished her career at the Chilliwack General Hospital.
Eileen was a beloved mother to her three sons, Michael, Paul, and Bruce. Eileen was predeceased by her son Paul. Eileen was also a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren, a great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews around the world. Eileen touched the lives of many with her sweet gentle spirit. Eileen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Eileen is survived by her two sons, Michael (Rosemarie) and Bruce, who will cherish her memory and legacy, as well as her two brothers, Billy (Isabel) and Alistair (Norma), and her two sisters, Elspeth and Muriel (Neil). Eileen was predeceased by her brothers Jimmy and Allan, and her sisters Jessie and Mary.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Eileen Austin Christiansen (nee Dunlop) will be held on April 28th at 2:00 PM at Calvin Presbyterian Church, located at 2597 Bourquin Crescent East, Abbotsford, BC.
Eileen will be forever remembered for her love, kindness and the countless lives she touched.
May Eileen rest in the arms of her Lord Jesus.
