A modern funeral home

Recently updated and well-appointed, our classic brick funeral home, located off the Southwest Freeway, is a welcoming place to plan a memorial service. It includes a big, bright chapel that has both a baby grand piano and the only Houston-area pipe organ found in a funeral home. Visitation rooms are comfortable, and an event space seats up to 60 guests for a gathering before or after a funeral. We use one of the best chefs in the Houston market for all of our catered events, from a breakfast buffet to an ice cream social to a sit-down dinner.

History

In the mid-1800s Ed Settegast operated one of the finest livery companies in Houston. John Kopf was a cabinetmaker. In 1901 Ed and John combined their businesses, establishing the first funeral home in Houston.

By 1927 Emma Settegast was operating the funeral home, with the help of John Morrow and her brother, Ed. The business remained in the family until John Morrow bought it in 1963. John ran the business until 1970.

In 1993 The Settegast-Kopf Company expanded to Sugar Land, where we still operate today as The Settegast-Kopf Company@Sugar Creek.
