One of the largest funeral homes in North America

Our funeral home is a spacious 48,000 square feet with 3 different levels. We have a wonderful building which is offers exceptional and significant services to families that entrusted us. We have 2 chapels and 5 reception rooms. Our underground parking is plentiful with 175 indoor parking spaces. Our funeral home is a part of the Mount Royal Natural and Historical District—a chain of parks, cemeteries and institutions that the provincial government protects for their rich cultural and natural heritage.

Stunningly beautiful funeral chapel

Chapel at Centre funéraire Côte-Des-Neiges Inc.The first chapel seats roughly 150 people in a church-like atmosphere with seating benches. The L-shaped design has 2 sides when you enter the chapel. There’s a grand piano for live professional music during any ceremony.

The location features paintings throughout, including the artwork of Quebec artist, Andre Pitre. Stunning windows crafted from imported glass create a focal point for this chapel. During our Commemorative celebration each November, we sign the names of people who have had a funeral service here on a large canvas.

Peaceful and serene chapel

Our second chapel is adorned with windows that overlook the prestigious Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery. This space also seats approximately 150 people and has its own piano for live music.

Our funeral home has 8 different viewing rooms for visitations named after trees, including the Maple Room and Weeping Willow Room.

Honouring cultural traditions

Chapel at Centre funéraire Côte-Des-Neiges Inc.At Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, we work hard to provide a comfortable and serene environment for all families. We embrace the diversity of Quebec and our cultural communities, customs and traditions.

No matter your culture or religious background, we are here to serve you. Our staff speaks more than a dozen languages, including French, English, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, Russian, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

We proudly service Montreal’s Asian community. Our counsellor, specifically dedicated to Asian services, speaks more than 5 Asian dialects. To better serve the Asian community, we have the religious artifacts required to create a ceremony that honours your traditions. We also have agreements with different involved celebrants.

Cremation services

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

  • Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
  • Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
  • Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Community involvement

We pride ourselves on creating and maintaining solid ties with Montreal's different communities. Our continued presence within the community and deep experience at carefully handling funerals has enabled us to build a distinct identity based on respect and integrity.

We are involved with different foundations. We also assist with fundraising events for different hospitals in the metropolitan area. We are also supporters of the Diabetes Association and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Chapel at Centre funéraire Côte-Des-Neiges Inc.We love the rich and diverse cultures of our area. We help organize and attend events for the Filipino, Italian, Lebanese, Jamaican and Greek Orthodox communities, celebrating their cultural heritage.

We also host special events at our funeral home. We hold a gathering on Remembrance Day, a Christmas concert, and sometimes a book launch. View our events to see what we have going on.

We host art exhibits where families come to see artwork, including paintings and bronze sculptures. At Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, we are the proud owners of original sketches by the artist Guido Nincheri.

Personalizing services

At Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, we create services around the passions and hobby of the person being honoured. Personalization can take many forms. It can be grand and elaborate or simple and elegant. For one boy, we discovered his love of Legos. We had “flower arrangements” made out of Legos. The reception room was filled with the boy’s actual Lego creations for friends and family to see. We also held services for a retired fireman. We arranged for a fire truck to be present, and the men he worked with arrived to the ceremony wearing their fireman uniforms. If you think you might be interested in a celebration of life, please reach out and we can explain all the ways we can personalize a service.

Accessibility

Front exterior building at Centre funéraire Côte-Des-Neiges Inc.We make the effort to make our funeral home accessible to everyone. In one sense, that means having a staff that’s equipped to serve people of all cultural and religious backgrounds.

In another sense, that means making it easy for people to get to our physical location. We have ample underground parking spaces, but for those who don’t drive, we have a bus stop right outside of our front entrance. We’re easily accessible by subway.

Once you arrive here, the building itself is very easy to explore and is wheelchair accessible on all 3 levels.

History

We first opened our doors in 1997. We were one of the first avant-gardist and multicultural funeral centres in Quebec, offering a place for the community to receive compassionate and professional care. From the beginning, the Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges has relentlessly worked to understand the needs and traditions of the different communities.

In recent years, we’ve renovated our reception rooms to be more welcoming and accommodating for our families. We’ve added elements like wood flooring, large TVs to display picture and video slideshows, improved lighting and added fireplaces. There also has been a lounge area added where families can enjoy coffee and tea while they discuss anything that might be coming up.

Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery has a rich tradition of serving families since the 19th century. Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery was founded in 1846. For nearly 200 years, this cemetery has been recognized by many as one of the most important cemeteries in Canada.
