At Alvah Halloran and Son Funeral Home, we take great pride in our community involvement and give back as often as we can. We hold several community events annually, including a car show fundraiser, food drive and Halloween event for kids. History

The Halloran family has a long history of funeral service in the Rochester area. The late M. Alvah Halloran, a 2nd-generation funeral director, and his son, H. Daniel Halloran, established Alvah Halloran and Son Funeral Home in 1957 at our current Gates location on Chili Avenue. The original building was an old farmhouse that was converted into the funeral home. It remains among the oldest standing structures in the town of Gates.

Growing family business

As the business began to grow, more space was needed to accommodate the growing number of families the funeral home served. So in 1961, a large addition was added onto the original home structure.

In 1973, M. Alvah Halloran passed away unexpectedly. His son, Dan, ran the funeral home for many years after his father's passing and retired in the late 1990s. Since then, our beautiful funeral home with its picturesque setting has become a part of the Dignity Memorial network.
