History

Floyd A. Gorsline began the business as a combination furniture store and undertaking operation in Williamston in 1903. Insistence upon the highest standards of quality and professionalism was the hallmark of F.A. Gorsline and Sons.

With the merging of the Gorsline Runciman Company and the Ball Dunn Funeral Home of Mason in 1972, Ball Dunn’s prestigious tradition was enthusiastically embraced. Angus MacDonald founded the Mason firm in 1868 as a carpentry and undertaking business. Again, the artisan’s sensibilities and craftsman’s meticulous attention to quality formed an exceptional approach to funeral service.

Today, we continue to adhere to the values and principles of our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. Though funeral service has experienced many changes and has evolved over the years, we have found these tenets to still be wonderfully suited to providing compassionate care to Lansing-area families.
