Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home is a non-denominational mortuary. Florida is a melting pot, and we are knowledgeable about a variety of cultures and religions. We are well-versed in the various traditions of Jewish, Christian, Catholic, Muslim and other faiths. We work with you to incorporate whatever is important to you and your family into a service. We want to help you celebrate life.

Whether you are seeking a basic cremation and a scattering in the Atlantic Ocean or a full traditional funeral service with a cemetery burial and a catered reception, we'll take care of every detail. We can also conduct a creative outdoor celebration complete with live music, favorite foods and funeral favors. Chapel and reception spaces

Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home has 2 chapels. The Buckman Room seats 150 people in a contemporary setting with round tables. Should you prefer a more traditional setup, we can arrange rows of chairs. The more intimate Acosta Room seats 50 people.

We also offer catered receptions and visitations. From a breakfast buffet to a dessert bar to a sit-down seafood dinner, just let us know what you're thinking—we'll take it from there.

Located on Normandy Boulevard, off I-295, we are easily accessed via Route 10, Memorial Park Road and Lenox Avenue. We are a short drive from downtown Jacksonville and the St. John’s River. Jacksonville International Airport isn't far, and there are several options for lodging near the funeral home and cemetery.

History

Marion Permenter Sr. founded Riverside Memorial Park in 1931. He owned and managed the cemetery until his death in 1956. His son, Marion Permenter Jr., took over cemetery operations until 1984.

Opened on the cemetery property as Town and Country Funeral Home, what is now called Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home held its 1st service in May 1986.

The memorial park and funeral home joined the Dignity Memorial® network in 1987.

Riverside Memorial Park cemetery

Spanning more than 100 acres, Riverside Memorial Park is a picturesque cemetery with beautiful trees and a large fountain.

The memorial park offers a variety of burial options: in-ground interment, including double-depth burials and private estates. The cemetery has a cremation garden, as well as a Jewish garden called Workingmen Circle. There are 3 mausoleums on the property. Lakeside Mausoleum includes a chapel with floor-to-ceiling windows for committal services of up to 50 people.

Gravelly Hill cemetery

A cemetery within Riverside Memorial Park, Gravelly Hill dates to the mid-1800s. It was originally the private burial ground of the Miles Price family. The property holds numerous burials of Civil War veterans, 5 World War I veterans and 2 Spanish-American War veterans. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property is maintained by the city of Jacksonville.
