History

Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary has been an important part of our community since its founding as Halverson-Leavell Mortuary in 1954 when Henry Halverson and his brother-in-law, Albert "Babe" Leavell, decided to expand their successful San Pedro mortuary business into the Torrance area. As was common of the time, Halverson-Leavell Mortuary was opened right across the street from Stone & Myers Mortuary, which had been serving the community of Torrance since 1921.

In 1983, Stone & Myers Mortuary teamed together with Halverson-Leavell Mortuary to combine their many years of experience serving the community into Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary. The newer, more modern Halverson-Leavell location was chosen to house the newly christened Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary with its majestic 50-foot copper steeple. Our beautiful architecture even helped place our facility on the local Historic Homes Walk.
