Acerca de
Together, Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary and Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery have provided Phoenix with the highest standard of funeral, cremation and cemetery services since 1906. Throughout the years, our commitment to the community has remained unchanged while our services have evolved along with the needs of families who live here.
Our caring Phoenix funeral home
Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary is a nondenominational funeral home situated on the lush grounds of Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. The funeral home has two chapels, plenty of room for receptions and outdoor areas for services.
Serenity Chapel seats approximately 260 guests; Mortuary Chapel seats up to 140. We can also help you arrange a service at your place of worship or another venue. And though the funeral home sits on the grounds of the cemetery, you don't have to be buried there. We will work with any cemetery you choose or provide scattering assistance to families who want it.
Personalized funerals and memorials
Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary offers many types of services. We'll work with you and your family to create a personalized ceremony that deeply reflects your loved one's life. There are endless ways to personalize a service. Start by sharing the details that you'll always remember—the way her nose crinkled when she smiled, the way he sang in the car when his favorite songs came on. We'll take the time to get to know your special person and design a tribute like no other.
When you first meet with a funeral director, we'll ask questions about your loved one: what they liked to do, what they cherished, how they thought about the world, how they liked to spend time. From there, we'll help you design a service that speaks to the unique life of your loved one, whether a traditional religious funeral, cremation memorial or an upbeat celebration of life.
Tell us if that special person was a sports fan, an outdoors enthusiast, a world traveler, a pet lover or a baker extraordinaire. We take the things that mattered to your loved one and weave them together to create a singular, heartfelt memorial. We're here to help remember the details through cherished traditions, favorite music, photos, flowers, a tribute video and more.
Whatever kind and size of service best suits you or your loved one, our funeral planners will work with you to put together a personalized plan that considers your religion, culture, personal preferences and budget. We even offer catering services.
Cremation in Phoenix
There are many options for cremation in Phoenix—and they're not all equal. We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With an on-site crematory, expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
If you're interested in cemetery placement, Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery is among the prettiest in the area. It offers a scattering garden, niches and other choices.
And for those who wish for something more momentous, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

We Honor Veterans
At Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we are honored to serve our nation’s heroes and take this responsibility seriously. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran’s memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.
During the year, we host community events that recognize veterans and work closely with local veterans organizations. We also participate in the Dignity Memorial® Homeless Veterans Burial Program, founded in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Through the program, homeless and indigent veterans are identified and provided with proper military burials.

Supporting public servants
Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary and Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery also support public servants. The Public Servants Program recognizes the courage and selflessness of those who serve. Through the program, we offer dignified and honorable funerals and burials, at no cost, for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who fall in the line of duty. In addition, the program provides extended counseling services to family members and the opportunity to create an online tribute as a loving memorial.
Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery
Occupying 192 acres of beautifully maintained lawns and gardens, our cemetery is the largest in Arizona. Four varieties of palms are among the many stately trees that provide visitors with shade on summer days.
Cemetery gardens and features
Walk through Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery and you will see a range of burial options, including two mausoleum complexes, crypts, cremation niches and benches, private and semiprivate estates and cremation scattering gardens. The cemetery’s expansive lawns are meticulously manicured and include a number of areas dedicated to specific religious groups or military veterans.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is our newest garden. It includes an octagon-shaped bank of cremation niches and year-round green lawns. A striking pagoda accents the Chinese Memorial garden, which was built and consecrated in 1991 in consultation with a feng shui master. The Garden of Guardian Angel, built in 2000, features a rotating statue of an angel watching over the garden. The angel makes a full turn every hour. We call our veterans garden Field of Honor.
In 2019, we made some changes at the cemetery to accommodate a wider range of requests. New semiprivate estates provide uniquely landscaped areas for families to be buried together. In the mausoleum, we added granite-front and glass-front niches for families who want permanent cremation memorials.
Standing tall on our cemetery lawn is a bell tower. Constructed in 1910, it is dedicated to the memory of fallen members of the Phoenix Volunteer Fire Department. For nearly 40 years, we've held a firefighters service in October. Honor guards, pipe bands and hundreds of family members pay their respects at this annual event.
Other annual events
Serving families in our community during very emotional times builds relationships that don't end when the service does. As part of our continued support, we invite you to join us for our annual community events.
The name of every veteran who is buried in our cemetery is engraved on our black granite veterans wall. This monument provides the backdrop for our Memorial Day and Veterans Day events. During our Veterans Day event, South Mountain High School’s JROTC places more than 10,000 flags on service members’ graves.
During the first week of November, we host a popular Día de los Muertos celebration. In years past, as many as 5,000 people attended the festival, which celebrates Mexican culture and supports the spiritual journeys of those who have died. The event, which lasts the day, is fun for all ages. It includes face painters, food vendors and an evening mass.
No matter your religion, culture or beliefs, we know that the December holidays can be a particularly emotional time for those who have lost loved ones. During our nondenominational Night of Remembrance, we celebrate those lost, and families benefit from the healing power of community. We invite attendees to hang ornaments on our tree with the names and photos of loved ones or light candles in their loved ones' honor. Religious leaders are present at the event, which concludes with a lantern release.
