Steve was born on December 29, 1949 to Hubert Hugo and Sylvia Rae Wegner in Rapid City, South Dakota.
On December 14, 1996 he married Denise Eddy. He was a loving dad to Deanna LeBlanc, Melissa Vodicka, Kayla and Austin Wegner.
Steve believed strongly in mine safety. As a surveyor for the Mine Safety and Health Administration he worked to protect gold and uranium miners in Nevada, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
He loved house remodeling, woodworking, and crafting. After his retirement he crafted beautiful works of scroll saw art and created banks and boxes from fine wood. He also loved to travel with his wife and children and especially loved camping. Steve loved to read and was a dedicated Denver Broncos fan.
Steve is survived by his wife Denise and daughters Deanna, Melissa, and Kayla and his son Austin; grandchildren Anthony, Aiden, Arene, Kian, and Jonas; and siblings Hugh and Sandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Sylvia.
A celebration of life for Stephen will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Kammann Chapel, 795 W. 28th Street, Yuma, Arizona.
