Maggie Palmer, 86, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2014, in Yuma, Arizona surrounded by loving family members. She was born on January 14, 1928 in Lexington, Tennessee to Grover and Louise Duke. Maggie was the ninth of ten children. She attended grade school and high school in Tennessee and Missouri. On March 2, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, the late C. M. "Whitey" Palmer. The family moved to Yuma in 1951.
Maggie retired as bookkeeper for Yuma School District No. 1. She was a longtime member of First Southern Baptist Church, Morningside Baptist Church and Calvary Temple of Christ Church of Yuma. She loved teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Maggie is survived by her sister, Charlene Clevenger of Senath, Missouri; three children, Brenda Howell (Don Scarff) of Yuma, Mike Palmer (Linda) of Prescott, and Becky Taylor (Mike) of Yuma; grandchildren, Jason Howell, Jarrett Howell (Leigh Ann), Brant Palmer (Katie), Jill Patterson (Rhett), Britney Taylor and Austin Taylor; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, C. M. "Whitey" Palmer; her son-in-law, John Howell; and grandson, Jason Howell. Maggie will be remembered most for her unconditional love and devotion to her family. She loved spending time with her family, holidays, sewing, and baking cookies for her grandchildren. She could always be found cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at a tennis match, basketball game, watching them show animals at the county fair, she was there. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Johnson Mortuary and Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma.
