Ronald Allen Johnson passed from this life surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born in Long Beach, California, living his entire childhood either at Huntington Beach, Tin Can Beach or Seal Beal.
He and his brother Mike looked forward to summers when their mother would drop them off at the beach in the morning when the marine layer broke, then pick them up before the marine layer crept back in the afternoon. Though he grew up a beach bum and was a 5th generation Californian, minus one generation leaving then returning, he longed for a chance to own some acreage and start a family. The opportunity arose when General Motors transferred him to Oklahoma City, where he ultimately retired with 30 years as an electrical repairman on the assembly line.
It was in OKC where he met the love of his life. He was married to Cindy (Jackson) on May 1, 1981, at the Circus Circus Chapel in Las Vegas. Together, they raised their family on a beautiful piece of land they homesteaded together, turning it from forest and prairie to lush flowers, plants and gardens. Ron loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, water aerobics, micro breweries, pickleball, anything adventurous and most of all family and friends. They left Oklahoma after 35 years to begin their retirement in Arizona.
Ron's family knows the tragedy of world pandemics all too well. His maternal great-grandparents Ada (Lemley) and Troy Allen, were both struck down in the midst of their youth by the catastrophic H1N1 influenza that circumvented the globe in 1918, leaving their infant child Nerine an orphan. Through all the family lore, and a century later, Ron never expected to be the next family member to die as a result of a world pandemic. In this case the highly contagious SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) unexpectedly cut his life short. He leaves behind his wife Cindy (Jackson) and adult children, USMC SSGT Jeffery Johnson and daughter Kelley Johnson. Grieving the sudden and tragic loss of their beloved "Pop Pop", are grandchildren Emma, Zoey, Lucien and Isla, his uncles, Philip Kappler, Everett Johnson, Earle Johnson and aunt Lynne (William Brum), mother-in-law Nancy (Fisher) Jackson, sisters- in-laws Christie (Ken Stoops), Cathy (Derald Cramner), Connie (Joe Barta) and Carrie (Dave Conner). Many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family as well as the many friends who were like family at Robson Ranch Arizona.
Proceeding him in death are his parents David and Harriette (Liane Kappler) Johnson, father-in-law, Richard Jackson, grandparents Nerine (Allen) Salzer and George Salzer, William and Gina Kappler, Annette (Ver Straeten) and Edward Johnson and his dear brother Michael Johnson.
"May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong, may you stay forever young".
