Melanie Darlene Jose joined her relatives in eternal life on April 22, 2013, in a tragic accident. She was born July 20, 1984, in Downey, CA. Melanie is survived by her father, Milson "Ingo" Jose; mother, Josephine Kolb; life-long companion, Donald Morrow; children, Hannah, Deena, Loki, and Linus Morrow; sister, Leila; brothers, Milson Jr. and Joshua Hurtado; grandmothers, Nancy Montague Sr. and Cynthia Kolb, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Delmar L. Jose and George N. Kolb; great-grandmothers, Mary O. Millard and Lela Robles; great-grandfather, Joseph Benedict
She was a student at Valley Center High School and San Pasqual High School. She was continuing her education at Two Directions in Rincon, CA. She was a B.I.A. firefighter and became a full time mother. She came from a long line of traditional bird song dancers. She enjoyed attending all tribal gatherings and playing 1st Base for Baad Medicine in Pala, CA.
Pallbearers will be Milson Jose Jr., Delbert Crawford, Joseph N. Jose, Mahoss Sass, Tuukut Sass, Bobby Chaipos, Bronzy Chaipos, Willy Kolb, John Parada, Chester Mojado, and Irwin Osuna. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse and Robert Ortega, Joshua Hurtado, Gabriel Numkena, Marlow Jose Jr., Roderick Johnson, Chucky Powvall, Phillip Quirk, Jesse Standifer, Albert Baldarama, Joseph R. Jose, Monte Montague, Douglas Osborne, Norman Osborne and Gordon Osborne.
She will be always remembered for her good nature, and will be greatly missed by all.
A viewing will be held at Funeraria del Angel on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 5:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00p.m. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Thomas Indian Mission on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 10:00a.m. followed by traditional tribal rites at Quechan Big House. .
