She was born on March 21, 1949 in Silver City, New Mexico to Felix Polanco Gomez and Lillian Garcia Gomez. They moved to Pico Rivera, California and settled in Simi Valley California, where she attended Simi Valley High School. Upon graduation she attended college and became a dental assistant.
Delia worked for Rockwell International in Canoga Park, Department of Motor Vehicles in Thousand Oaks and retired from Point Mugu Naval Air Station in Point Mugu, California where she gained several friends who had a special place in her heart.
In her free time she taught catechism at Saint Rose of Lima Church in Simi Valley, she was an Avon lady who was loved by her customers because she was so tiny and petite and always had a smile on her face. She faithfully attended her children’s softball and baseball games, cheering them on loudly while eating her sunflower seeds. She enjoyed taking rides up to Ojai with her husband Alex, dancing, telling jokes, coercing her husband Alex to sing karaoke, cooking, and spending quality time with her family.
Delia raised three children, Dina, Alejandro and J’Nai. She was married for 43 years to Alexander Andrade of Oxnard, California. Delia was the proudest grandmother and loved her grand babies J’Lyn, Arden and Joseph more than anyone could ever know. She spoiled J’Lyn with Boba, Arden with deviled eggs and Joseph with potato soup.
She adopted several Marine friends her son had, giving them all a safe place for them to be, on one condition; they said “fire truck” instead of an expletive they often used. They all respected her wish and walked around saying fire truck while they were in her presence.
Our mother was loved by so many she made a huge impact on anyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by so many people. She is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Lillian Gomez, mother and father in law Leon and Cristina Andrade, maternal and paternal grandparents, Sister Belinda Torres and Brother in law Raul Torres, first husband Larry A. Diaz, sister in law Guadalupe Mesa, brother in law Michael Andrade. Several aunts and uncles.
