Dan James Willis Opfenring, 85, went to heaven on July 2, 2012, with his family by his side in his Yuma, Arizona, home.
He was a WWII Navy veteran and an ironworker before becoming an Archaeologist with degrees from Arizona State University.
Dan was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman who could always be found carrying a gun, his pocketknife, and a book. He enjoyed being around his animals and the outdoors until his final day on earth.
Dan is survived by his wife, Bobbie Opfenring, daughters Chris and Kathy Opfenring, granddaughter Danielle Opfenring Amavisca, and many friends.
Services will be held at Black Oak cemetery in Canelo, Arizona, at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 9, 2012.
