Abel O. Bedoya, 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at home in Gilbert, AZ surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Yuma High School. Abel was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served his country as a medic in the 3rd Army during the Korean War. He later worked with Southern Pacific Railroad for 15 years, then, worked at MCAS in Yuma for 27 years where he retired as a Pest Control Operator. Abel's favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandchildren, driving them to school, and watching his favorite western movies. He was also an avid Cardinals football fan. He was devoted to his family and was always there for everyone. He was a very humble man with a unique sense of humor, a loving father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Abel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elisa; his parents, Louis and Francisca O. Bedoya; sisters, Anita, Aurora, and Amelia; brothers, Arthur, Alfonso, Alfred, Albert, Atlalfo, Adolfo, and Andres. He leaves behind his daughters, Elizabeth Mendoza, Yolanda Hinzo, RoseAnn Bedoya and Belinda Hanson; grandchildren, Michelle Figueroa and Michael Hinzo; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1518 S. 8th Avenue, Yuma. He will be laid to rest at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers: John Mendoza, Gene Hensley, Larry Nuno, Michael Hinzo, Victor Figueroa Jr., and Sabian Sanchez.
